1. General
The company aims to provide a safe working environment for its staff and to minimise any adverse impact of its activities on the wider environment so far as is reasonably practicable. The company does not engage in conventional manufacturing or transportation and so has a relatively low impact on the wider environment.
We minimise our adverse impact on the wider environment by:
· Maintaining adequately all equipment used by the company.
· Making environmental awareness a distributed responsibility at all levels within the company.
· Recycling consumables where appropriate.
2. Organisation
The company Managing Director of the company has responsibility for the following:
· Communicating with other staff on matters relating to environmental policy.
· Briefing any new members of staff on the contents of this document.
3. Carrying Out The Policy
Paper
Staff are encouraged to make use of electronic media rather than printing, to save paper. We recycle all paper used by the company. (Collection and recycling of paper is carried out by Warrington Borough Council).
Business Travel
Staff are encouraged to electronic communications for general contact with clients, and video-conferencing for most meetings in order to minimise Carbon emissions resulting from travel. Were face-to-face meetings are required, the use of public transport is encouraged as the first option. In circumstances where use of public transport is impractical, hire cars are made available for use by staff, with the use of electric vehicles or those that use unleaded petrol preferable.
Office
All heating in the office is thermostatically controlled. Lighting is provided using low energy light bulbs.
Office Equipment and Computers
All new equipment will comply with low energy consumption standards. Empty printer cartridges are sent for recycling.
Smoking
In the interests of the health of its staff and the environment, the company does not permit smoking on the premises. It is the responsibility of all staff to observe the company policy and to make any visitors aware of it in a polite and reasonable fashion.
